구동사 Fall (Feat. 구슬쌤) - fall in, fall for, fall behind, fall back on, fall out, f

 

1-1. Fall in love : 사랑에 빠지다.

I knew then that I was falling in love with you.
그때 너와 사랑에 빠지고 있다는것 알았어.

I instantly fell in love with it.
나는 그것과 바로 사랑에 빠졌어.

 

1-2. Fall in line : 규정/ 관례에 따르다, 협조하다.
--to follow th rules and behave according to expected standards of behavior

If they're on board the rest will fall in line.
그들만 동의하면 나머지는 모두 협조할거야.

Cathy's not on board yet. 아직 cathy의 동의를 구하지 못했어
Then get her on board. 그럼 어서 설득해.

 

2.  Fall for  :  ~에 빠지다/속다.
--to be tricked into believing something that is not true.

You fall for it every time!
너 매번 속더라.

Don't fall for that.
그말에 속지마.

 

 

3. Fall behind : (특히 일정, 진도, payment 등이) 뒤처지다/ 늦어지다.
--to fail to do something fast enough or on time

Come on, Karen. We're falling behind.
어서요 karen. 우린 뒤처지고 있다고요.

We can't afford to fall behind today. Let's go.
우리 오늘 뒤처질 여유 없어요. 갑시다.

You can also use the summer to catch up if you fall behind.
당신의 진도가 뒤쳐져있다면 여름을 이용해서 따라잡을 수 있어요.

He might fall behind on his rent.
그는 집세가 늦어질게예요.

 

 

4. fall back on : ~ 에 기대다/ 의지하다. ( 비빌 언덕)
--to use something, especially a form of financial support, when other things have failed

At least, I have something to fall back on.
최소한 내가 의지할 수 있는 대상이 있잖아.

Do you have savings to fall back on?
잘 안되더라도 의지할 수 있는 저축해놓은것 있지?

I didn't have anything to fall back on. There wasn't a safety net.
기댈 만한 것이 아무것도 없었어. 안전 그물이 없었지.

 

 

5.  Fall out  : 떨어져 나가다. (싸워서 더이상 얘기를 안할 때) 사이가 안 좋다.
--to argue with someone and stop being friendly with them

We had a falling out.
우리 싸워서 얘기 안해/ 사이가 안 좋아 졌어.

 

 

6. Fall through : 완료/실현되지 못하다, 무산되다.
--to fail to happen

My plan fell through.
약속이 무산됐어.

My pilates fell through.
필라테스 수업이 무산됐어.

 

It's my understanding that ~
제가 알고 있는 바로는 /이해한 바로는 ~ 입니다.

It's my understanding that deal fell through.
제가 알기로는 거래가 무산됐어요.

 

 

7. fall apart : 무너져 내리다.
--to break into pieces.

After she died, I felt like my whole world fell apart.
그녀가 세상을 뜨고 세상이 다 무너지는 것 같았어.

Everything is falling apart.
다 걷잡을 수 없이 엉망 진창 이야.

 

 

8. Fall short : 부족하다, 미치지 못하다.
to fail to reach an amount or standard that was expected or hoped for, causing disappointment.

Here's where we fell short.
바로 이부분이 저희가 부족했던 부분입니다.
